In collaboration with the Library of Alexandria
Stemming from a belief in the role of scientific research in monitoring the reality of the Muslim World and its importance for the development of Islamic civilization thought, and in light of the fact that both Nohoudh Endowment and the Library of Alexandria are non-profit institutions, with concerns limited to their objectives, as given in developing the human development programs, development studies and Islamic thought, in the various fields and its requirements. With a view to the common objectives of both entities, this contribution aims to provide future answers to the cognitive map for Muslims, which will be funded by Nohoudh Endowment and scientifically managed by between both sides. Nohoudh Endowment and the Library of Alexandria execute a research partnership research strategic partnership in Islamic Renaissance thought matters, through the following projects:
- Project of re-publishing Renaissance books; the ” Pioneers of Renaissance series “:
- A draft of an analytical contemporary reading to Renaissance books:
Centuries”, has stemmed from the vision adopted by the Library of Alexandria and Nohoudh Endowment, in terms of the need to maintain the intellectual and scientific heritage in the various fields of knowledge, contributing to transfer such heritage to the successive generations, stressing the importance of communication between the generations of the nation throughout its history of civilization; since the cultural production is – undoubtedly – of an cumulative nature and that the effective renewal is possible only along with authentication.
The idea of this project undergoes the title of “A draft of an analytical contemporary reading to Renaissance books”, to include those introductions previously made by a number of outstanding researchers according to a disciplined methodology, with emphasis on the necessity that the introductions that will be drafted in the future for the other issuances in the series shall be harmonized with the previous introductions.
Nohoudh Endowment hopes that the collaboration with the Library of Alexandria shall yield in establishing a modern and contemporary intellectual library that cares for developing a cognitive map with a contemporary reading of renaissance books in the modern Islamic era and its projections on the ground, without falling into the trap of the dominance of transfer and redundancy approach which marred the Islamic scientific output after lock the door of ijtihad.
Both projects seek to provide and highlight examples of the literatures that have been formulated to deal with Islamic issues in the era of Islamic renaissance during the thirteenth and fourteenth Hijri centuries, representing the core of ijtihad that touched upon the scientific method, away from imitation, transfer or repetition, and the reality surrounding the process of ijtihad at that time, moving to exploring the future of the Islamic nation. Those issued helped thence to move and develop the scientific arena based on the discretionary legitimate approach.
